Abstract: Prospecting leases are dispositions of land granted under the Placer Mining Act for the purpose of testing and prospecting ground for placer deposits. Prospecting leases cannot be mined. With reference to baselines, prospecting leases are staked in the same manner as placer claims, but cover a greater distance (up to a maximum of 5 miles). The purpose of a prospecting lease is to offer an applicant the opportunity to test a large area and the exclusive right to stake the ground to claims.Distributed from GeoYukon by the Government of Yukon. Purpose: To represent the location of Placer Prospecting Leases in the Yukon.

Limitations of use: The Mineral Resources Branch accepts no responsibility for errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. Where the tenure location differs from the actual post locations on the ground, the ground location has precedence. Data created by the Government of Yukon may be printed, copied or reproduced for non-comercial purposes only. Reproductions must be accurate and must not be represented as an official version.
